Description:

The project’s design is based on the following significant points:
1) The project is formed on a land which has a large excavation from a previously unfinished project with an unrelated foundation in place.
2) The project is located in a very poor and underdeveloped city in the middle of a low- rise residential region.
3) An attempt is made to create a useful combination of multiple functions in one building.
4) The challenge is to create compassion of form with emphasizes on purity, local familiarity, regional authenticity, concept and materials.
5) Giving full respect to “Time and Place” of the project.
6) Use of the principal means and concepts of historical and regional Iranian architecture in design and giving equal attention to the general and the specific at the same time
7) An attempt is to create a balanced bonding between the project and the environment.
8) A bold attempt is to replace the traditional symbolic elements of a mosque (Dome, Minaret, etc.) with new and different definitions of the same.
9) Combining the project with the old green zone located in the north side to give the illusion of a single urban project.

Site:

The project is located in an underdeveloped desert city in a residential neighborhood; the site is surrounded by a 20m wide main street on the east, a 12m wide street on the south, an 8m wide street on the west and a park full of palm trees on the north. Southern Iran, Bushehr province, Borazjan

Program:

6000m2, three story mixed-used commercial project, include:
Commercial wing in eastern side: stores, motel, restaurant, coffee shop, and etc.

Cultural and religious wing in western side: library, gallery, classrooms, computer
workshop, art workshops and the mosque

Systems:

- Structure: Concrete frame work with concrete deck

- Architecture: Cavity brick walls and dry wall system for exterior and interior, exposed concretefor ceiling and columns, Marmarite stone tile flooring

- Utility: room air-conditioners (DX coil handling units) with ceiling fans
